Check Out Tom Hanks Recording His Last Lines As Woody For Toy Story 4

Its been 9 years since weve seen Woody, Buzz and the rest of the gang from Pixars Toy Story franchise, but that changes this year with the release Toy Story 4. The fourth film in the beloved franchise has had a long road to the big screen, but it is finally nearing completion. To that end, Tom Hanks has now recorded his last lines as Woody in Toy Story 4 and the moment was capture for posterity. Take a look:

This tweet from Tom Hanks shows that Toy Story 4 is inching ever closer to being completed, and it looks like the actor had a lot of fun recording his final lines. His accompanying caption is also poignant and perfect, combining the Woody-ism Ride like the wind Bullseye! with Buzz Lightyears signature line To Infinity and Beyond! That Tom Hanks sure knows what to say to tug at our heartstrings.

Im choosing to view the happy expression on Tom Hanks face in this picture as an indication that his final lines recorded were happy ones, and that thats indicative of the story in this film. The Toy Story movies, and Pixar movies in general are known for being emotional gauntlets so each entry naturally carries the fear that Pixar will deliver another waterworks-inducing gut punch.

Of course, Tom Hanks has previously said that he could barely record the ending of the film, so best bring your tissues just in case.

Despite the happy picture, there is already something melancholy about Tom Hanks tweet, with the repetition of the word final. If Toy Story 4 winds up being the last film in the franchise, that word carries infinitely more weight. Although we long thought that Toy Story 3 was the final film in the franchise until it wasnt.

Those are concerns for another day, and now we have Toy Story 4 to look forward to-- which is another step closer to complete with Tom Hanks wrapping his lines as Woody. It seems like Woody could have quite the story in this fourth chapter. At one point the word on the story for Toy Story 4 was that it would focus on the romance between Woody and the returning Bo Peep, who was absent from Toy Story 3.

The new synopsis for the film is that the new and returning toys get a road trip when Bonnie brings them along on vacation. Presumably that provides an opportunity for them to run in to Bo Peep again. Whether her and Woody rekindle their romance is unclear, but Bo Peep is definitely back and shes got a whole new look and her return is bound to have an effect on her former flame.

Toy Story 4 opens in theaters on June 21. Check out our 2019 Release Schedule to see all of the other huge titles coming to theaters this year.

Time travel has been a fun element of the Austin Powers franchise, and while Austin traveling to the '80s has potential, it'd be more interesting to keep things in the present. Austin Powers has been gone a long time, so it would be great to see how he's faring in the late 2010s.

Jason Blum Would Totally Take Over The Dark Universe

Jason Blum Would Totally Take Over The Dark Universe

When it comes to franchise building, The Dark Universe stands out as an example of a property that kind of put the cart before the undead horse. The proposed series of films based on the Universal Monsters more or less fell on its face with the lackluster debut of The Mummy, but Blumhouse head honcho Jason Blum recently took to social media and announced that he would be interested in picking up the franchise and helping guide it. Blum wrote:

This obviously doesn't guarantee that anything will happen, but Jason Blum's tweet is a fantastic bit of insight into what could happen in the wake of Chris Morgan and Alex Kurtzman's departure from The Dark Universe and Universal's decision to put the potential franchise on the back burner. It's also worth noting that Blumhouse is a major partner with Universal Pictures, which means Blum already has a relationship with the studio and a clear path to taking control if the folks behind The Dark Universe decide that he's the right man for the job.

There is obviously a strong case to be made that a guy like Jason Blum could be the key to cracking something like The Dark Universe. After all, over the course of the last few years, he has carved out a nice role for himself as one of Hollywood's go-to authorities on horror. Combine that with the fact that he has strong working relationships with horror filmmakers like James Wan and M. Night Shyamalan, so it would not necessarily be too hard for him to bring fantastic talent into the fold for modern takes on these classic monsters.

Moreover, there's an equally strong case to be made that a horror master is needed to correct course and make The Dark Universe feel more like its own beast. One of the chief issues that plagued The Mummy was the sense that it felt like a run-of-the-mill, big-budget action blockbuster, rather than an old-school monster flick inspired by the films that inspired the universe as a whole. With a guy like Jason Blum in place, we could see smaller-scale films debut that accurately capture the essences of monsters and characters like Dracula, The Bride of Frankenstein, The Invisible Man, The Wolfman and Van Helsing.

Besides, Jason Blum has already shown that Blumhouse can work well in the realm of established characters. Blumhouse has seen massive success with franchises like The Purge and Insidious, and there's a lot of buzz currently circling movies like Halloween and Glass. If the same can be done for The Dark Universe, then we could have a fascinating new cinematic universe on our hands.

We here at CinemaBlend will bring you more information related to the future of The Dark Universe, as well as Jason Blum's possible role in that future, as further details are made available to us. Until then, make sure to head over to our movie premiere guide to read up on all of the films that are headed to the big screen in 2018!
